If you're considering doing this for the WWW too, you may want to
have a look at ALIWEB (http://web.nexor.co.uk/aliweb/doc/aliweb.html)

I am using IAFA templates to have per-WWW server indices, and I'm
getting quite enthousiastic responses. In addition, the resulting
database is searcheable seperately, and included in the W3 Catalog.

I had some comments on the IAFA drafts, which I sent both to you and 
the iafa list, but I never heard anything back -- did you ever get
them?
