I think it's the IETF Trust, not the IAOC, that's being asked. Also, as 
far as I remember, somehow the IETF Trust said that it would be okay to 
take care of the "IANA" trademark. (If I'm wrong, please correct me.)

My questions would be: How much effort does the IETF Trust spend 
currently to defend the trademarks it already takes care of? How much 
more effort is it to defend one more trademark?

My guess is that in contrast to a fully commercial trademark of a big 
company, defence of not-for-profit trademarks that the IETF Trust is 
currently or in the future taking care of is a decidedly low-key operation.
