Hi,

This is really a nice trigger for discussion. Because, try as much as I want, I don’t see hierarchy in your example. As far as my understanding goes now, we do have hierarchy for nodes, so we can create a node that actually contains nodes and links, right? Hierarchy in properties would be that you create a property and reuse it to build new properties. Something like:

Create Property NAT {
NAT-enabled: True;
NAT-address: 1.1.1.1;
}

Create Property WAN-NAT {
Property: NAT;
Link-id: 51;
bandwidth: 2Mbps;
}

So, what I understand from your post is that we need a way to create a property and then apply it on one or more nodes or links. And that’s a nice feature which would make a lot of sense.

Folks, back to the drawing board :-)

My .02 cents,
/PA

But it’s a very good discussion point that

1. whether we really need this?

2. Whether we can find a elegant way to express the hierarchy.

I really look forward to your comments and suggestions.

The problem is that one would like hierarchy in the property so that one can give cloud access the following type of syntax:
           Create Property  cloud-access [id]  {
                   identifier: 51;
                 nat-enabled: true;
                 nat-address: 1.1.1.1;
          }
