This is very relevant to the FIPE meeting as well. Here's the info:
A meeting on the theme for Future Internet Protocol Evolution (FIPE) will take place as a public side meeting during IETF 111. Recent research suggests the need for reconsidering some of the basics of the Internet protocol stack. For example, caching, load balancing, and the emergence of large private networks can be considered as leading to changing the basic end-to-end architecture of the Internet. Experience with a range of modern applications suggests potential improvements if the network could meet certain new requirements. The relentless barrage of attacks attempting to gain control of (or deny access to) network resources screams out for improvement of the underlying security of the network. In this side meeting a few network-level research topics will be presented along with a discussion about possible future work in the IRTF down the line.

Subject: [icnrg] IETF-111 Side Meeting : Routing research challenges arising from evolving beyond and revitalizing the Internet

Dear all,

There will be a side meeting for IETF-111 to try to bring some important research material to IETF participants who have not had the chance to catch up with it. The intention is to seed discussion of what needs to be researched in routing as the Internet evolves, and highlight how networking research should be done.

We think that this will be of interest to those of you following the main topics of Semantic Addressing and Routing research.

The agenda is:

1. Introduction and opening remarks : 5 minutes

2. Revitalizing the Public Internet by Making it Extensible : Scott

Shenker (Berkeley) : 20 minutes

3. The Evolution of the Interplanetary Internet : Scott Burleigh

(IPNSIG.org) : 20 minutes

4. Routing on Multiple Optimality Criteria : João Sobrinho (University

of Lisbon) : 20 minutes

5. Open discussion on "Routing research challenges arising from

evolving beyond and revitalizing the Internet" : 25 minutes

This picks up three recent pieces of work:

This is an open meeting and everyone is welcome. You don't have to register for the IETF meeting to attend, although we hope you'll find what is going on at IETF-111 (https://www.ietf.org/how/meetings/111/<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ietf.org%2Fhow%2Fmeetings%2F111%2F&data=04%7C01%7Ccedric.westphal%40futurewei.com%7C072b861f36024dde848508d94b62ec54%7C0fee8ff2a3b240189c753a1d5591fedc%7C1%7C1%7C637623710548742227%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=Llnn63giXHOimYFXZ6xB3wWLMlcm1fy78WAz3D42r%2B0%3D&reserved=0>) sufficiently interesting to want to be part of that, too.

Follow-up discussions can happen on the SARAH mailing list, which has been established for this purpose and routing discussions in general (SARAH@jiscmail.ac.uk<mailto:SARAH@jiscmail.ac.uk>), while there is also a wiki capturing the discussion at https://github.com/danielkinguk/sarah/wiki<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fdanielkinguk%2Fsarah%2Fwiki&data=04%7C01%7Ccedric.westphal%40futurewei.com%7C072b861f36024dde848508d94b62ec54%7C0fee8ff2a3b240189c753a1d5591fedc%7C1%7C1%7C637623710548752220%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=Ba5rxRQ8i93cyoN8ygFunV7NW30JLZi1yiaD0qmfT94%3D&reserved=0>amp;reserved=0>.
