> > You are still confusing filtering from RR to PE (side product which even > RT ORF could solve) > > RT ORF was killed because RFC 4684 supplanted the use case and did so much > better. > Very true. So I hope this will also apply to this one: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-xu-idr-route-target-orf/ > > > So, if you find that required behavior generally problematic, you have > an issue with that RFC with your name on it. > > > > You are simply wrong here on the primary goal of RFC4684 - please kindly > refrain from continuing misstating it. > > Sorry, who is trying to silence the mic now? > :) By misstating I mean you are putting the equal sign between RTC and egress filtering. Then deriving from it that all RTC authors must always support egress filtering. I am trying to explain to you that RTC was born and written with a bigger picture in mind and that authors are free to make an opinion when egress filtering makes sense vs inbound drops. See RRs in VPNv4 do not have RT membership of the clients to do inbound filtering. Sure if inter-as would not be a goal we could do RT-ORF from PE to RRs and filter inbound on RRs, but this would only work one hop. That was the issue. Anyway I think we fully departed now from the main subject. - And now, incremental deployment headaches with typed NLRI. > This is when you allow defining BGP extensions outside of IDR ... The proper fix I would support would be to convert all NLLRI types to separate SAFIs and we would not have this discussion. And pls do not say "ship has sailed" ... it can be done smoothly. Best, R.
