Hi Daniel,

This is an interesting document, a few years ago we proposed something similar in -00 version of draft-dong-idr-fsm-subcode (http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-dong-idr-fsm-subcode-00), in which a new BGP capability called “BGP Session Information Capability” was defined, and “BGP Speaker Description” was one of the proposed TLVs in that new capability. Considerations about the impact on the Capability parameter space in OPEN message were also discussed.

My personal opinion on this feature is it may help the operation and troubleshooting, although the hostname information is exchanged only between peers, as opposed to the proposals in IGP extensions.

Best regards,
Jie

Feedback is welcome. There is a "Sectino" typo in the intro, will clean that up.
