my personal feeling is that discussions of past interest,  
motivations, experience of participants, past history, etc. is a bit  
of a rat hole and not very productive in the technical points of a  
charter and the future direction of the group.

before this explodes into flames/political discussions, perhaps we  
can table this for now and bring it up in hallway discussions at the  
San Diego IETF.
