Before you go too far down this rat hole, consider how Sender ID worked out.  
It's premise was oriented around the idea that there was value in validating 
if those headers were authorized or not.  Also, it's almost impossible to pick 
the right header field out of From, Sender, Resent-From, and Resent-Sender 
without having to consider Microsoft patents (good, bad, or indifferent it's 
there - consult the MARID working group ML archives for details).
