The IAB is currently seeking a new liaison manager to IEEE 802.1[1]. Eric Gray served in this role for many years and recently retired; the IAB thanks him for his service.

The IEEE 802.1 Working Group is chartered to concern itself with and develop standards and recommended practices in the following areas: 802 LAN/MAN architecture, internetworking among 802 LANs, MANs and other wide area networks, 802 Security, 802 overall network management, and protocol layers above the MAC & LLC layers.

The IAB is seeking a volunteer to serve as IETF liaison manager to IEEE 802.1 to represent IETF views, as required. The IETF process for managing such relationships is detailed in RFCs 4052[2], 4053[3], and 4691[4]. The IETF's relationship with IEEE 802 is described in RFC 7241[5]. It is preferred to have a liaison manager that participates in both the IETF and IEEE 802.1 activities, and is familiar with the processes of the organizations. The liaison manager is expected to participate in regular coordination meetings between IETF and IEEE 802 [6].

If you are interested, please reply to liaison-coordination@iab.org by 23:59 UTC on 2022-12-23, with a brief note that explains your interest, your background, availability to attend meetings, and whether you have any potential conflicts of interest.
