A new Request for Comments is now available in online RFC libraries. RFC 9770 Title: Notification of Revoked Access Tokens in the Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments (ACE) Framework Author: M. Tiloca, F. Palombini, S. Echeverria, G. Lewis Status: Standards Track Stream: IETF Date: June 2025 Mailbox: marco.tiloca@ri.se, francesca.palombini@ericsson.com, secheverria@sei.cmu.edu, glewis@sei.cmu.edu Pages: 64 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-ace-revoked-token-notification-09.txt URL: https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc9770 DOI: 10.17487/RFC9770 This document specifies a method of the Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments (ACE) framework, which allows an authorization server to notify clients and resource servers (i.e., registered devices) about revoked access tokens. As specified in this document, the method allows clients and resource servers (RSs) to access a Token Revocation List (TRL) on the authorization server by using the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), with the possible additional use of resource observation. Resulting (unsolicited) notifications of revoked access tokens complement alternative approaches such as token introspection, while not requiring additional endpoints on clients and RSs. This document is a product of the Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments Working Group of the IETF. This is now a Proposed Standard. STANDARDS TRACK: This document specifies an Internet Standards Track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the Official Internet Protocol Standards (https://www.rfc-editor.org/standards) for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
