6.3 [IANA #826219] Management Item: Protocol number 122 release (Michelle Cotton / IANA)

This is a request for a management item.

We have received a request to release protocol number 122 SM Simple
Multicast Protocol. The contacts have confirmed this release.

Their request is to return the number to the pool, but what we did the last
time we had a request like this was to leave the name in the registry and
write "(deprecated)" next to it.

The protocol numbers registry is IESG Approval or Standards Action.
See: http://www.iana.org/assignments/protocol-numbers/

Please let us know 1) If releasing this protocol is approved and 2) How it
should be displayed in the registry.

Thank you,

Michelle
