Last week, the IETF deployed a Content Delivery Network in front of www.ietf.org in order to improve our website performance worldwide. We are pleased to report that the change has significantly improved load times for users, particularly outside of the US and Europe. However, as a result of this change some users who obtain IETF documents via rsync have experienced service interruptions.

The use of www.ietf.org as an rsync source is no longer possible. However, rsyncs using ietf.org, ftp.ietf.org, or rsync.ietf.org are available and provide the same data using the same credentials. We therefore recommend that users utilize rsync.ietf.org to obtain IETF documents.

The command rsync rsync.ietf.org:: will provide a list of available rsync modules, and rsync.ietf.org::<module> will retrieve the specified set of documents.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

Matt Larson, on behalf of the IETF Secretariat
