The IESG has approved the following document: - 'X.509 Certificate Extended Key Usage (EKU) for 5G Network Functions' (draft-ietf-lamps-nf-eku-05.txt) as Proposed Standard This document is the product of the Limited Additional Mechanisms for PKIX and SMIME Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Paul Wouters and Roman Danyliw. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-lamps-nf-eku/ Technical Summary RFC 5280 specifies several extended key purpose identifiers (KeyPurposeIds) for X.509 certificates. This document defines encrypting JSON objects in HTTP messages, JSON Web Token (JWT) and signing the OAuth 2.0 access tokens KeyPurposeIds for inclusion in the Extended Key Usage (EKU) extension of X.509 v3 public key certificates used by Network Functions (NFs) for the 5G System. Working Group Summary The original individual Internet-Draft took a very different approach to the one that was approved by the LAMPS WG. The authors took the advice from many commenters.
