A new Request for Comments is now available in online RFC libraries. RFC 7799 Title: Active and Passive Metrics and Methods (with Hybrid Types In-Between) Author: A. Morton Status: Informational Stream: IETF Date: May 2016 Mailbox: acmorton@att.com Pages: 14 Characters: 33717 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-ippm-active-passive-06.txt URL: https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc7799 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17487/RFC7799 This memo provides clear definitions for Active and Passive performance assessment. The construction of Metrics and Methods can be described as either "Active" or "Passive". Some methods may use a subset of both Active and Passive attributes, and we refer to these as "Hybrid Methods". This memo also describes multiple dimensions to help evaluate new methods as they emerge. This document is a product of the IP Performance Metrics Working Group of the IETF. INFORMATIONAL: This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard of any kind. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. This announcement is sent to the IETF-Announce and rfc-dist lists.
