Maybe a better argument is that 4 members of the ISOC board are appointed
by the IETF. (https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/)

A public web page (n.b. not a "discussion") detailing the bidding process
seems like something the IETF might reasonably expect from its board
members.
