Subject: Special issue on PARALLEL VLSI ARCHITECTURES FOR IMAGE AND VIDEO PROCESSING
*********************************************************** ********************* Call for Papers ********************* *********************************************************** Special Issue of The Journal of VLSI Signal Processing-Systems for Signal, Image, and Video Technology ------------------------------------------------------------ "PARALLEL VLSI ARCHITECTURES FOR IMAGE AND VIDEO PROCESSING" ------------------------------------------------------------ A Special Issue of the Journal of VLSI Signal Processing Systems will be dedicated to Parallel VLSI Architectures for Image/Video Processing. Original unpublished research and application development work are sought in this area (a list of suggested topics is provided below). The Special Issue will be oriented towards the design and implementation on VLSI, of special purpose signal processing parallel architectures, including parallel and pipelined signal processors, concerning all aspects of image and video processing. Possible topics include but are not limited to: * Efficient implementation of digital video codecs * Specialised parallel architectures for * image analysis * enhancement * restoration * segmentation * feature extraction * shape and texture analysis * Specialised systems for medical imaging * Parallel architectures for the representation of 3-D objects * Morphological Systems * Pipelined Processors and Systolic Arrays for Image Processing * Parallel Systems for Computer Vision * Specialised Architectures for Character and Text Recognition * Reliability, Availability, and Performance Issues Papers covering more than one of the above topics are very much encouraged. Submission Procedure Authors should follow the JVSPS manuscript preparation guidelines as described in the Information for Authors at the end of each issue of the Journal. Five copies of the complete manuscript should be sent no later than October 1, 1999 to one of the Guest Editors below. Early submission is encouraged. The special issue will appear around April 2000.
