Dear IETF,

I am writing to vigorously protest against the adoption of a
standard for "TLS authorization" based on a patented method.

The progress of the Internet should not be obstructed by the
greed of companies that attempt to impose control over who
should be allowed to use specific methods.

The motivations of "RedPhone Security" for promoting the
adoption of a standard based on a patent they hold, is
morally questionable, to say the least.

The IETF should improve its protocol for adopting standards
by making mandatory the disclosure of any patents related
to proposed standards.

    Regards,

      Luis Ibanez, Ph.D.
