I noticed that  folks were using the chairs sitting in the hall for
conversations/small side meetings or just as a place to sit to do work or
get on a call between sessions. I did the latter and had to wander at times
to find such a place.  One factor may be that there were a lot of folks
staying at other hotels, Airbnbs etc so it’s not really convenient to go
back and forth during the day between sessions.  So you find a place to
park for a bit before the next session.

To Rich’s question,  when I’ve gone to other conferences (both tech and
non-tech) there isn’t extra seating out in the hallways but those are
usually much more focused events and single track.
