All consensus should be confirmed on-list.

And all interims should have virtual attendance capabilities.

Provided that happens, I do not begrudge lots of interims for WGs where
this is useful.  (I would if it happened for many many WGs, because
there is only so much energy many participants can reserve for IETF
participation.)
