Let's try to find a positive side on this ... (subject modified)

I guess many of you noticed that we didn't had a social event announced for Madrid. The only reason for that was lack of a sponsor.

Despite that, about one year and a half ago, I started to work on this and I made a "selection" of about 45 social event options (after discarding many others), got quotes for the venues, the catering, all the necessary documents, etc., etc. and tried my best to get a sponsor for that.

Despite how many organizations that I believe could be interested in that sponsorship, at the moment, I still didn't get anyone to confirm his availability for covering the cost.

So, as I'm sure we will have an IETF in Madrid ASAP, could any of the organizations that often sponsor IETF jump into it say "yes we will do" ?

I can send all the info in private (it is a huge zip file with all the documents), so you can have an idea and of course, it will require to be updated once we know the new dates.

Regards,
Jordi

My sympathies! Even if I didn't like Madrid (I do), I would
now, for this reason alone, be keen for us to have an IETF
meeting in Madrid as soon as we can. Fairness is fine
in more than the transport layer, and I think it'd only be
fair for those of us who pick venues to recognise the years
of effort upended by the cancellation. (Which is a good bit
worse than Vancouver, us having met there a few times.)

Cheers and hoping we all meet soon,
    S.
