I could not agree with you more, EXCEPT in this case major service
providers (Yahoo, AOL, etc.) are already treating it as a standard, have
implemented it, and people are feeling the pain as a result (and not just
their users, since it's the recipients and mail list managers that are most
affected, not the senders).
