    Hey!  That is a very misleading statement.
    
    SIP was assigned IP version number 6 for EXPERMENTAL PURPOSES ONLY.
    
    Nothing about that making any thing about SIP "official".
    
I guess I'm confused and since you sent your objection to the sip and ip-encaps
lists, it would be worth some clarification.  What does it mean
"for experimental purposes only"?  I was not aware that such a status
existed for IP version numbers and certainly failed to take that
import from your note to Bob.  I only assumed you meant that the assignment
of a version number was official, as in 'we get to use it safely'.

If there's anyone out there that assumed that this meant we had won some
sort of battle, I sure hope no one else takes them very seriously.  SIP
needed a number and you provided one.  What's the big deal?
