Greetings,

Here are HP Inc.'s comments for the PWG Last Call started October 8, 2020 for Job Accounting with IPP v1.0 (https://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/ipp/wd/wd-ippaccounting10-20200827.pdf <https://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/ipp/wd/wd-ippaccounting10-20200827.pdf>):

Section 2.2: For each of the terms defined in STD92, the reference should be appended to the definition, to be consistent with guidance on other documents adopting similar definitions.
Line 109: "a print server..."  -->  "A print server..."
Line 117: "a single Logical..." --> "A single Logical..."
Line 121: "a hardware implementation of a endpoint device..." --> "A hardware implementation of an endpoint device..."
Line 123: "...generated by Printer..." --> "...generated by the Printer..."
Line 145: Rename to be "Audit Print Usage"? (Same for line 151)
Line 147: "...how are those Jobs are submitted..." --> "...how those Jobs are submitted..."
Lines 148-149: "...so that all Jobs are routed through the service..." - This is phrased in a way that suggests that this topology (e.g. accounting MITM print server) is required. It might be better to say "...so that all Jobs' metadata are reported to the service..." to avoid such a topology suggestion.
Lines 158-159: "...how many sheets are printed on, how many sides are printed on, ..." --> "...how many sheets are printed and on how many sides, ..."
Line 162: "Diagnosing and Debugging Printing Issues"
Line 164: "...to a particular Job or Client application." --> "...to a particular Document, Job or Client application." - Many printing problems are caused by the originating document but this isn't mentioned here.
Line 176: "Print Job" is capitalized but isn't a defined term.
Line 178: "Print Service" is capitalized but isn't a defined term.
Line 182: "...she makes..." --> "...Kate makes..." (also reported by Bill Wagner)
Section 3.1.9: Shouldn't there be a use case covering the original opt-in to supplying Job Accounting information? I guess that is covered by 3.2.1 / 3.2.2 but those are negative cases. A positive version of 3.2.1 would be a good addition to section 3.1.
Line 187: "...cases defined in section 3.2." --> "...cases defined in section 3.1."
Line 203: What is a data collection method "beyond the Printer"? Does that mean outside the use of IPP, or something else?
Global: "metadata" --> "Metadata" (defined term)
Lines 225-226: "...during Job processing." --> "...during Job creation or processing."
Lines 239-242: Is this not applicable to topologies where the Job Accounting server is a separate "Client" monitoring the Printer using Get-Jobs etc.?
Lines 245-246: "...including the Job name ("job-name") and Document name ("document-name")." --> "...including the Job name ("job-name") and Document name ("document-name") among other attributes."
Line 249: "authenticated user" --> "most authenticated user"
Line 250: "authenticated user" --> "most authenticated user"
Lines 252-256: Discuss "User-Agent" or other HTTP header info as another source of (unreliable and possibly inaccurate) metadata?
Section 4.2: Doesn't discuss the "date-time-at-xxx" attributes or the "job-uuid" attribute that are all mentioned in the table in section 7 but ought to be mentioned here or in section 4.3?
Figure 1: Maybe re-format it to be a "tall portrait" to resemble a dialog presented on a smartphone (increasingly important UI constraint)?
Line 345: "The IPP extensions defined in this document..." --> Are there any IPP extensions defined in this document?
Section 6.2: Bump it back to be on the same page as section 6.1
Lines 387-390: Add mention of the HTTP "User-Agent" header field?
Table 1: Missing "document-uuid"
Line 437: Something weird going on with the [PWG5100.13] reference...
Line 492: It is now "HP Inc." - the old Hewlett-Packard is now just a memory...

Sorry for such a long list - thanks for your efforts!

Smith
