Hi IPPM, Al Morton, Greg Mirsky, and I all mentioned the QED framework from the Broadband Forum in today's session. Here are some links to that work and a brief description of what QED is. The QED framework defines how to mea, sure quality attenuation. Quality attenuation is a clever way to combine latency and packet loss into a single quantity. The QED work defines what quality attenuation is and how to measure it. QED is relevant to draft-olden-ippm-qoo because we use the QED methods directly. Our draft is about how applications can define what level of performance they need from the network, and we believe QED provides the best mathematical toolbox to measure performance for this task. For those that want more information on the Broadband Forum Network Quality Framework work, please see the links below: Overviews and motivation https://www.broadband-forum.org/open-broadband/broadband-experience https://www.broadband-forum.org/marketing/download/MR-452.1.pdf https://www.broadband-forum.org/marketing/download/MR-452.2.pdf https://www.broadband-forum.org/marketing/download/MR-452.4.pdf Technical specifications Base architecture - https://www.broadband-forum.org/technical/download/TR-452.1.pdf Protocol use: https://www.broadband-forum.org/technical/download/TR-452.2.pdf This same work was presented at the IAB workshop on Measuring Network Quality for End-Users, 2021 https://www.iab.org/activities/workshops/network-quality/ Thanks to Dave Sinicrope for putting together the list of links.
