Hi IPPM,

Al Morton, Greg Mirsky, and I all mentioned the QED framework from the
Broadband Forum in today's session. Here are some links to that work and a
brief description of what QED is.

The QED framework defines how to mea,sure quality attenuation. Quality
attenuation is a clever way to combine latency and packet loss into a
single quantity. The QED work defines what quality attenuation is and how
to measure it.

QED is relevant to draft-olden-ippm-qoo because we use the QED methods
directly. Our draft is about how applications can define what level of
performance they need from the network, and we believe QED provides the
best mathematical toolbox to measure performance for this task.
