  GOAL
Put scientific datasets, databases and analytic models on the
       World Wide Web.

  MOTIVATION

A LOT of datasets, databases and models are being put on the Web.
   Formats and organization are haphazard.
Browsers are ill-defined for these products. Access is often impossible.
   Let's fix this situation!

  WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
Putting large real-world datasets, diverse databases and queriable
analytic models on the Web becomes as easy as writing a home page.

Scientists and researchers can access these information objects in
       sensible, easy, repeatable ways.
Everything works on every type of computing platform.

There is a lot more here. Please check out the home page for details.
The Universal Resource Locator (URL) for the oceans-web home page is

       http://www.stl.nps.navy.mil/~iirg/oceans-web

The primary ways we will accomplish these goals is through discussion
on the mailing list accompanied by documentation on the home pages.
