One slight modification to my previous statement: I *am* updating the
SCRAM registration mechanism for SCRAM, which is turning out to be more
involved than I had originally expected. Nonetheless, I already have the
"updating RFC5802" mark on this draft. If we can agree on a (hopefully
upwards-compatible) change for the channel binding issue, it could be
done now.

However, doing so would probably also reset the IETF Last Call on it.
