Danny McPherson has asked to step down as co-chair of the L3VPN working group. I am very pleased to announce that Ben Niven-Jenkins has agreed to serve as co-chair (along with Marshall Eubanks, who will continue as co-chair). It is not unusual for IETF WG co-chairs to also be document authors. When this happens, the author/chair needs to recuse himself from the role as co-chair for the consideration of that one document, and allow the other chair(s) to judge WG consensus and otherwise serve as chair for that document. Since Ben is co-author of the considerations draft, Danny has agreed to stay on as co-chair for the purpose of progressing this one document and to continue the role that Danny has already been filling of attempting to help resolve all remaining comments on the considerations draft. While Danny has only been co-chair since the Dublin IETF (July 2008), he has nonetheless played a major role over the past 15 months in helping the L3VPN working group make important progress in this time period. I would like to thank Danny for his considerable help in this area (as well as for agreeing to let me twist his arm into staying on while the considerations draft is progressed). Thanks, Ross
