I disagree with the above text.

I would however agree with this text:

<t>While **for example** documents written in Standard Mandarin SHOULD use the 'cmn' (Mandarin) language subtag to form the larger language tag,  the 'zh' (General Chinese) subtag MAY be used for compatibility with older applications. **The same rule applies to all the other Chinese languages. Thus also for example Cantonese may be tagged as 'zh' for the exact same reasons as Mandarin. Another legal usecase for 'zh' is if the actual variation is not known.</t>
