Macrolanguage analysis Macrolanguages are categorized according to whether or not they are in widespread use in ICT, and whether or not one of the encompassed languages is dominant. Each macrolanguage is listed together with all encompassed languages. The alpha-2 ID is also given if it exists. Note: "used in ICT" is based on what's supported in-box in OSes. CLDR and Windows Vista locales are assumed to cover this. (If the language is suppor- ted only in one or the other, this is indicated.) Of course, every macro- language is used in MARC and systems based on MARC (a vertical application space). For category 2, the info for each entry is organized to separate the dominant language from other languages. The "(E14...)" annotation indicates how the item was analyzed in pre-639-3 work. In some cases, the Ethnologue 14 categories or IDs changed in E15 / FDIS639-3; annotations with "E15" reflect the pre-639-3 analysis but in terms of 639-3 categories/IDs. 1.
