When I received Kevin + Michael's responses to my (radical editing)
proposal, my editing screeched to a halt!

I had a long discussion with Kevin yesterday, and (broadly) convinced
him of the merits of what I am proposing to do. We agreed that:

  1) I would preserve the current text, so that it would be straightforward
	to change back.

  2) I would write up the changes as I proposed, being careful to justify
	what is being done.

Given the timing, I hope that you will all back this decision. I'll
get back to the editing!
