The MHS-DS group in general (and myself in particular) have been aware
of the ongoing ISO activity in this area. Earlier versions of the
MHS-DS documents were reviewed by the UK(BSI) group, which included
the ISO Editor for this area (Robert Willmott) and I attended to help
with this process. The group planned to incorporate ideas from the
MHS-DS work.

In technical terms, there were some similarities and quite a few
differences. In my view, the ISO drafts were unimplementable, and
needed very substantial work to get them to a state where they might
be usable. I understand that there is little ongoing work in the
group.

The possibility of a joint ISO/IETF meeting on this topic has been
discussed. I believe that this would be useful.
