I agree with what Urs has said, but would like to pick up one more detail:

To me the problem is (or actually was, since I'm no longer managing a big mail 
host :) that:

- I don't trust current X.500 infrastructure enough to let it to mess with my
  mail, and
- I don't trust a system I'm not managing to mess with my mail configuration.

Maybe these problems could be solved (at least partly) by teaching MTA 
managers. Maybe we could have a two-days tutorial on MHS-DS with the next 
MailFLOW managers meeting?
