In my view it is a degenerate form that admits to special optimizations.

It *could* be handled by establishing new bundles containing only the 
single m-line. But there is no value in doing that. And by *not* doing 
it, it is possible to handle everything in a single O/A rather than 
requiring a 2nd one.
