Subject: mdmIndex question

Hi,

I am a little confused with the mdmIndex object identified
in the mdmIDTable. It appears that this index, mdmIndex, will
be used to index all the tables in the modem MIB. Does that
mean that this is really a modem proxy MIB? If so, why isn't
the SNMPV2 party feature used to address the modems instead
of the mdmIndex/mdmNumber?
I would really appreciate it if someone could elaborate
on the mdmIndex usage for me.

thanks in advance!
Irene
