	That is not really true. Have you heard of BFD or LSP ping?
The typical configurations of those tools is much faster than on
the order of minutes.  It is also typical to configure regular IGP
timers to run faster than that. In typical networks convergence times
are still sometimes on the order of minutes, but there are a number
of best practices for tuning timers and other configuration options
that optimize this down to sub-minute times now too.

	I would argue that based on the argument above, there is no
need for special protection switching mechanisms for MPLS-TP, and that
instead, we should be looking closely at reusing/optimizing those
that exist already first.  Again, based on the argument above, it 
would seem that the existing mechanisms are sufficient.
