Hi, Pat, Daniele,

Thank you for the comment. You are right, IEEE 802.3 is the standard that defines Ethernet PHY layers, and no FlexE involved in this work. The reason we put it in the slides/presentation is only because of OIF FlexE IA referenced to IEEE 802.3 on ETH PHY layer. We can edit the minutes to remove misleading part.

BTW, regarding the FlexE framework draft (draft-izh-ccamp-flexe-fwk-02), I think the description is accurate.

Best wishes,
Haomian

A comment on the minutes:

2) starts:
"Haomian gave an introduction to FlexE's background and definition by IEEE 802.3 and OIF (this is an overview, see the slides for the details)."

IEEE 802.3 is not defining FlexE. Looking at the slides, they say about the same thing: "• Data Plane recommendaton has been defined in IEEE 802.3 and OIF;"

Both statements are misleading implying that IEEE 802.3 is actively involved in defining FlexE. IEEE 802.3 defines Ethernet physical layers (which are standards, not recommendations). OIF is defining a modification to a subset of those physical layers (a FlexE shim) to create FlexE.

Regards,
Pat
