Hi WG,

I've been following the recent discussion on the mail list.

As an implementer of MPLS, my understanding is the IPRs disclosed apply to both the ISD and PSD part of this document. Simply taking the PSD part out will not solve the problem, not to say that PSD is one essential component in the MNA framework. It seems the whole MNA solution needs to be reconsidered.

Thus I do not support the adoption of this document at this point.

Best regards,

Ka Zhang

Subject: [mpls] Working Group Adoption Poll on draft-jags-mpls-mna-hdr

Working Group,

This is to start a two week poll on adopting draft-jags-mpls-mna-hdr as a MPLS working group document.

Please send your comments (support/not support) to the mpls working group mailing list (mpls@ietf.org) Please give a technical motivation for your support/not support, especially if you think that the document should not be adopted as a working group document.

There are four IPR disclosures against this document.

   -- 5093 from Huawei
   -- 5828 from Juniper
   -- 5669 from Cisco
   -- 5668 from Cisco

All the authors (with one exception) have stated on the MPLS wg mailing list that they are unaware of any undisclosed IPRs that relates to this document. Kireeti did send the response uni-laterally to the wg-chairs.

Since we have had some concerns about IPR, we like to remind you that the working group does not discuss the validity and applicability of an IPR, however it is assumed that all respondents to the wgap have looked at the IPR disclosures and, if they approve of the adoption, are comfortable with the IPRs as disclosed.

The working group adoption poll ends January 14, 2023.

/Loa
