I support WG adoption. >From the MNA Polls by Loa this past summer.. I agree that the Framework draft should be solution independent and say that a packet carrying ancillary data can use one or both PSD or ISD as both are viable options and should be part of the overall MPLS DT solution strategy. I agree it’s up to the solutions documents such as this draft specifying the network action to specify which method to be used in this case PSD and for which ancillary data, OAM etc. I support this draft’s solution for PSD using PAH. This draft has parity to IPv6 extension headers using the learnings from IPv6 EH concept and now with its application to the MPLS data plane to provide similarly MNA extensibility and scalability. With the learnings from IPv6 extension headers issues addressed by 6MAN Bob Hinden to limit the number of HBH options TLVs to one option to be processed in the fast path. This same concept and learnings from IPv6 EH for performance gain is applied to this draft to pack only one MNA action in the extension header to be processed and avoid packing multiple TLVs into the extension header for improved performance. https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-hinden-6man-hbh-processing-01 However, as well different from IPV6 RFC 8200, the MPLS data plane requirements for in flight packet modifications add/delete/change, the MNA PSD solution provides as well flexibility and backwards compatibility solution for the MPLS data plane.
