WG and DT members,

In the last Open DT meeting, the WG chairs took an action item to clarify the scope of Poll 2 that was conducted earlier.
The Open DT Chairs met earlier today and revisited Poll 2 (and its results) and concluded the following:

The consensus call on (Poll 2) is as follows:

  * The poll showed that there is a strong consensus that the correct path forward is to allocate a new SPL for the MNA, and that no SPLs should be re-purposed for this.
  * Any other application that proposes to re-purpose an existing SPL will need to go through the normal WG consensus process

Regards,
Tarek (as MPLS WG Co-Chair, for the Open DT Co-Chairs)

Subject: Consensus call on the MNA Polls of May 30 2022.
All,

On May 30, 2022, the joint MPLS Open DT chairs issued two polls

Poll 1:
=======

Asked if it is the consensus on the working group(s) that:

The Framework document must be solution independent and say:

   a packet may carry Ancillary Data using one or both of the
   following methods:

    (1) in-stack, and

    (2) post-stack."

Consensus call (Poll 1):
------------------------

- The poll shows that there is a strong consensus support for this
   position.

- There is also a fairly strong opinion that solutions that specify
   the use of ISD, should take special care to provide the motivation
   for the use of ISD.

The authors of the framework document should make any necessary
updates to the framework document. Other MNA documents should be
updated accordingly.

Poll 2:
=======

Asked whether we should re-purpose an existing SPL to carry network
action indicators, for example the Entropy Label Indicator or to
allocate a new SPL for this purpose.

Consensus call (Poll 2):
------------------------
- The poll shows that there is a strong consensus that the
   correct path forward is to allocate a new SPL for this purpose,
   and that no SPLs should be re-purposed.
