Folks,

Stev is waiting for the IESG to decide to whom ietf.org should be
transferred. Personally, I think it should go to the Secretariat, but
there appears to be some concern (over what, I do not really grok).

Steve

I believe that when he got ietf.org Stev indicated he was willing
to transfer that to CNRI. Is there any reason this has not taken place?
(The current situation is amusing in that www.ietf.org gets you the
FTP Software home page.)

yes, joel, i indicated that i was willing to transfer the ietf.org
domain to someone more appropiate than myself. (as a side note, the
reason that www.ietf.org points to our WWW server is that we *used*
to have an IETF page out there for Danvers, we can certainly fix that
any time you like) i was waiting for you folks to get enough above
water to think of it, assming that, at that point, you could deal with it.

*anyway*, during a conversation on (i believe) friday, attended by
two or three IAb members, and, as i recall, PVM, there was talk about
me holding on to it, because of one simple problem:

who do i give it to?

now, (are you still listening? some of you are getting that dazed
look in your eyes again. . . .) there are several obvious choices:

1) ISOC, which has all sorts of political baggage.

2) the IESG secretariat, which is like giving it to Kahn to some people.

3) bouncing it from host to host, which seems like a lot of work to me.

so, currently i am sitting on it, as it were . . . .you folks run
off, and decide what you collectively want, and let me know.

in the ideal situation, you would also set IAB buy in, to avoid
little old me getting caught in a land war, when all i have is the
munitions collected over 30 months of IESG service that i couldnt
expend because i was "above all that petty stuff":) . . . .
