Dear all:

Following the Name-Based Sockets BoF on Monday, I was asked to repeat, on this mailing list, the feedback that BoF attendees gave concerning whether IETF should take on the proposed work. This feedback was given by a show-of-hands on three questions:

(1) Do you think that the IETF should work on a name-based API? -- 21 yes, 2 no.

(2) Do you think that the IETF should specify the behavior of a name-based API? -- 17 yes, 0 no.

(3) Do you think that the IETF should work on protocols that some functions of the API may require? -- 15 yes, 2 no.

For a more detailed record of the Name-Based Sockets BoF, please see the minutes taken by Andrew McGregor: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/79/minutes/nbs.txt

Best,
- Christian
