Hi Dylan, Hi Kent, One of the fundamental parts of this draft is that the client is made aware of conflicts and makes an explicit choice on how to resolve them. Both Rob and I have reviewed this one and have made this clearer in the -05 draft but we both disagree with the insertion of resolution-mode into commit. Would you be so kind as to review the -05 version and let us have your feedback? Thanks James From: dylan.sadoun@orange.com <dylan.sadoun@orange.com> Date: Monday, 12 August 2024 at 04:58 To: Kent Watsen <kent+ietf@watsen.net> Cc: netconf@ietf.org <netconf@ietf.org>, draft-ietf-netconf-privcand@ietf.org <draft-ietf-netconf-privcand@ietf.org> Subject: RE: [netconf] draft-ietf-netconf-privcand private candidate | <resolution-mode> in <commit> De : Kent Watsen <kent+ietf@watsen.net> Envoyé : samedi 10 août 2024 18:15 À : SADOUN Dylan DTSI/DTR <dylan.sadoun@orange.com> Cc : netconf@ietf.org; draft-ietf-netconf-privcand@ietf.org Objet : Re: [netconf] draft-ietf-netconf-privcand private candidate | <resolution-mode> in <commit> CAUTION : This email originated outside the company. However, the <commit> operation does not accept any parameter, while the <update> does: <resolution-mode>. How could one do a <commit> with a resolution-mode of ignore or overwrite for the implicit <update>? Shouldn't the <commit> operation accept the exact same parameter of <resolution-mode> as the update? A imperfect solution would be that the client issue a <update> operation with the chosen <resolution-mode> right before the <commit>, but the running configuration could potentially be modified between the first <update> and the <operation>. Should the update's <resolution-mode> be added to the <commit> too? Makes sense to me. For NETCONF, it can be augmented into the <rpc>. For RESTCONF, how it maps can be specified. K. Best regards, Dylan Sadoun Hi Kent Would you like me to draft the NETCONF augmentation part? Best regards, Dylan Sadoun
