Thanks Russ.  The other relevant standards activity that is right
along the lines of what "network databases" is all about is the Z39.50
work. I know that that's had quite a bit of effort put into it
independent of the IETF direct efforts.  Once balloting on the
Z39.50/1992 drafts have finished, it would be quite useful to the
community to get some of that work published in an RFC series (even if
only as an informational RFC that would describe the set of problems
it would be suitable for and point to the relevant ISO/ANSI/NISO
standards).
