The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Comparison of NMDA datastores' (draft-ietf-netmod-nmda-diff-12.txt) as Proposed Standard This document is the product of the Network Modeling Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Warren Kumari and Robert Wilton. A URL of this Internet Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-netmod-nmda-diff/ Technical Summary This document defines a simple YANG RPC operation to compare management datastores that comply with the NMDA architecture. Working Group Summary NMDA diff attracted as significant amount of discussion due to the utility of being able to compare two datastores. As a result of this effort we believe that the working group consensus reflects broad support for the current draft. Document Quality The Document has been fairly widely reviewed. A couple of individuals (including one of the authors) questioned during IETF LC whether there was industry support for implementing this new RPC. Partly because the work doesn't go far enough (e.g., comparing the contents of a datastore to a file, and also the output format (YANG Patch) not being as useful as an alternative NETCONF edit-config based format). However, this RPC is clearly helpful for managing implementations conforming to NMDA, and I would prefer to see this current work published, and then interested parties can look at extending the work as appropriate.
