Peak DDoS Traffic Up 100%, Researchers Report

... "There are also some existing recommendations made by IETF [Internet Engineering Task Force], such as the use of network ingress filtering - RFC2827 or BCP38 - and MANRS [Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security] that we expect to gain additional traction," he says.

Experts Doubt Ethical AI Design Will Be Broadly Adopted as the Norm Within the Next Decade ... 5. About this canvassing of experts

... Among those invited were researchers, developers and business leaders from leading global organizations, including Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon universities; Google, Microsoft, Akamai, IBM and Cloudflare; leaders active in the advancement of and innovation in global communications networks and technology policy, such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Internet Society (ISOC), International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Invitees were encouraged to share the survey link with others they believed would have an interest in participating, thus there may have been somewhat of a “snowball” effect as some invitees invited others to weigh in.

Peak DDoS Traffic Up 100%, Researchers Report

... Nokia’s Pavlovic calls for more coordinated efforts to exchange security-related information -such as the top domains from which DDoS traffic originates - among service providers and cloud builders. "There are also some existing recommendations made by IETF [Internet Engineering Task Force], such as the use of network ingress filtering - RFC2827 or BCP38 - and MANRS [Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security] that we expect to gain additional traction," he says.

Guest Post by Prof. Contreras: Shepardizing Patents

... Standards Declarations – has the patent been declared essential to a technical standard? If so, the patent holder may have committed to license it on royalty-free or fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms. While some SDOs have searchable public databases of declared essential patents (e.g., ETSI and IETF), and some academic projects have consolidated some of this information, it is not generally linked to individual patent records.

Ecco il progetto della Cina per Internet sovranista / La Cina ha un obiettivo: internet [Here's China's sovereignist Internet project / China has a goal: internet]

[Rongyun CTO Ren Jie: Strong interaction, RTC's next "burst" scene]

The US Cyber Games Launch First-Ever US Cybersecurity Team

Many of you might know me as the director of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE). NICE, it is a public-private partnership between academia, industry, and government that is promoting and energizing a community working together to advance an integrated ecosystem of cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development. Therefore, it should not be surprising that NICE is partnering with Katzcy, a SWaM (Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business) certified Virginia firm, and others to standup the first-ever US Cyber Games competition and national team.

The race is on for quantum-safe cryptography

With her team of mathematicians at the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, Chen reached out to academic and industry cryptographers around the world to find algorithms that could resist new threats posed by quantum computers. Five years later, the project is almost complete. After three rounds of elimination, Chen and her team have now narrowed the 69 submissions down to a final seven algorithms, with several winners to be named at the end of the year. If things go according to plan, the result will be a new set of NIST-certified algorithms — and a new measure of protection against the chaos of a fully operational quantum computer.

eu: Pandemic urges strong measures to address risks on the security of personal data

Privacy goes hand in hand with security. This is what is aimed to be achieved with the EU’s Cybersecurity Strategy of December 2020. A harmonised approach in security and data protection is also evident to the recent proposal on European Digital Identity and the EU Regulation for Digital COVID-19 Certificates, which aim to ensure a high level of both cybersecurity and data protection.

Smart Farming using AI and IoT

Abstract: To survive in this world the occupation of farming plays an important role as it provides maximum needs for human beings to live in this world. But in the advancement of the technologies with the invention of the Internet of Things, Automation (Smarter technologies) is replacing the traditional methodologies which in cause resulting in wide range improvement of the Fields. Now we are in the state of automation where the upgradation of smarter technologies is improving day by day in maximum sectors starting from smart homes, waste management, vehicles, industries, Farming, health, grids, and so on. In the field of Farming, the improvement with the implementation of Automation is also taking place with the invention of the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc. Applications related to precision agriculture and technologies related to farm management and robotic automation etc. will benefit the environment a lot and will increase the overall efficiency. This system measures a number of different physical parameters to help in decision making like type of soil, irrigated, or non-irrigated land using IoT with the help of sensors. The data collected from the sensors will be monitored and further, the farmers will be able to know which crop is in demand, the availability of fertilizers and insecticides for that crop, climatic conditions using AI. Further, using IoT our system will provide automated maintenance of humidity/water level and automated maintenance of the fertility of the soil.

What Is IoT Architecture, and How Does It Enable Smart Cities?

It may seem obvious now — as smart cities proliferate and mature across the country and around the world — but without the Internet of Things, smart cities simply wouldn’t be all that smart. They would not deliver value to residents or to city governments.

The QUIC transport protocol has now been standardised

On 27 May 2021 the technical standards of the QUIC transport layer network protocol were published. In due course QUIC could replace many of the uses of the old TCP protocol, particularly on the Web.

QUIC, el estándar que busca una internet más rápida, estable y segura [QUIC, the standard that seeks a faster, more stable and safer internet]

Seguridad, estabilidad y velocidad.
