No, not lack of interest.  A year ago, I would have abstained but in the
interim, I decided I needed to master XSD and so have.  Ditto XPath, so earlier
this year, I could see, from my general language knowledge, that an XPath
expression was malformed - now I could put it right.  So were I at the meeting,
I would not have abstained.

It takes time for skills to be seen to be needed and then time for them to be
acquired; what prompted me was partly the work in the IETF but as much the
number of courses being offered by commercial trainers.  If others are acquiring
the skills, I need to too.  (Of course, there is always the time I spent on OSI
in 1986-1988 for which I still look forward to the payback).
