The Coalition sponsored a preconference on 'Navigating: R & D Tools and 
Services in the Internet' at the EDUCOM '92 conference in Baltimore yesterday.
George Brett served as co-moderator with Peggy Seiden from Skimore College.
Pete Percival (Indiana University) and Laura Kelleher (Merit) presented a 
status report on TopNode during the preconference.

This preconference was the first chance Pete and I had to chat about the 
NIR templates, and we'll be looking to pull something together in response 
to this request.  I will make every effort to work with Pete and George 
on this before the IETF meeting in Washington (which coincides with the 
Coalition meeting -- November 19-20).  If nothing else, I will be at 
IETF early in the week and will have something to present to you then.
