Greetings,

Last week I sent out a note advertising that I (and some colleagues from
Brunel) had put some entries in the directory for a few document collections,
including the OSI-DS RFCs / IDs. We have a small amount of funding to
demonstrate this idea in a wider context, and to try and build up the
stock of information available through X.500 in this way. So, here's one
of the things I'd like to do:

I think it will be better to try and do something small but useful well,
rather than something ambitious badly. I often see X.500ish material other
than the OSI-DS notes advertised, but have no track of where all this stuff
is kept. Archie helps for FTP'able info, but the filename-only restriction
limits its effectiveness. I propose to build up a collection of pointers
to all these papers and bits of software too, and have it searchable
through X.500.

So, if you do have any material that you think would fit into this scheme,
please let me know. I expect most of it will be files in FTP servers, but
you may have some documents which are only available by paper. If so, I'd
still like to know as the schema can also represent paper docs.

I will also be making some other initiatives, but these are all of the watch
this space variety at the moment.

Paul
