I support what Christian suggests and I would like to expand it a bit:

Why not suggest the use of:
<DN: bla, bla, bla>	for distinguished name
<UFN: bla, bla, bla>	for a UFN name
and	<X400: bla; bla; bla>	for X.400 ORName

That way the status of each such name is clear. I do not suggest that
someone has to type it in at the UI like this, since it will in most UI be
clear what is expected at that place.
But in presenting it that way in the output or in a paper would not lead to
misunderstandings.
