            Debra Burkert, GE Information Services

TITLE: Survey of Worldwide X.500-based Directory Pilots

SUBJECT: Service Aspects of the Public Directory Service

ABSTRACT:

This survey from the Rapporteur's Working Group on Public Directory
Services in SG 1/Q13 was developed at a meeting in Angra dos Reis,
Brazil during the period 18-22 October 1993.

The survey is intended to gather service related issues/concerns raised
by the many worldwide directory pilots which are currently active.
The results are for informational purposes. It is our hope to identify
future areas of work based on the experience gained from the pilots.

We would appreciate any input gained through your experience with running
an X.500-based directory pilot. In particular we would appreciate any
end-user problems or hurdles your team had to overcome. It is our
goal to incorporate your feedback (as deemed appropriate by the
Rapporteur Group) into the F.500 series of Recommendations. We would
also appreciate any ideas of how we could improve the F.500 series
to better address the service aspects of the Public Directory Service.
